AUGER CAST

PILES

The YMCA facility in Chester, Virginia planned an addition next to the existing building. Shoring was required to support 50 ft. of the existing foundation during construction of the addition. Technical Foundations was awarded the contract to install auger cast pile shoring. This method avoided the shock and vibration of driving sheet piles and caused less disturbance of activities in the existing building.

Due to the surcharge load of the existing foundation and additional loads anticipated from the new building, the shoring required posttensioned tiebacks at the top of the wall. The auger cast piles were installed in a single row and formed a continuous wall.
