Water Spillway Repairs - Fabricast grout bags, Minipiles and Pressure Grouting were used by Technical Foundations to upgrade two concrete chute spillways to withstand higher Probable Maximum Precipitation (PMP) criteria. Fabricast bags were placed at the toe of the spillway to stabilize the structure at the down stream end. Minipiles were drilled and installed through the grout bags to anchor the toe and prevent any possible movement of the structure. Pressure grouting was performed beneath the spillway slab to fill void areas and reduce any erosion of base material.

Spillway Repair

AUGER CAST PILES - Fast and economical solution for a changed ground condition at a Building Addition project in Richmond, Virginia. A last minute change to the structural plans for a building addition required the installation of drilled piers adjacent to the existing building to avoid excavation and possible undermining of soils beneath the existing footings. Technical Foundations was able to quickly mobilize and install 24" diameter auger cast piles within five (5) days of the structural change to the project plans saving valuable time on the overall construction schedule

Goodwill Building Addition

COMPACTION GROUTING - Radiology building column footing underpinning project at eastern North Carolina hospital. Two column footings of the radiology building had settled, causing displaced and sagging floor sections in the hospital patient area above. TFI used 2.875" diameter flush joint pipe to compaction grouting the soils beneath the footings. Immediately following the compaction grouting, the steel injection pipe was pushed back down into the low slump grout column and left in place as a minipile. Mechanical connection was made between the top of the footing and minipile, thereby stabilizing the settlement. Hydraulic jacks were then placed on top of the stabilized footing and the floor beam very slowly raised back to a level position.

Auger Cast Piles - A Parking garage and multi-story apartment project in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia - A combination of 16" diameter and 20" diameter auger cast piles were installed as part of the foundation work for a multi-story apartment and parking garage addition in Charlottesville, Virginia. Ground conditions were variable due to the unpredictable elevation of rock across the site. A total of 697 piles were successfully installed with maximum depths of 45'-50'.
